Building Futures Grand Opening

Date: June 09 2009

Event Description:

June 8, 2009 was a day of celebration at Building Futures, Siloam Mission’s newest for-pay employment-training program. Dozens of supporters, families, and friends gathered at the small woodworking shop on Jarvis Avenue in Winnipeg for a ribbon cutting ceremony that officially opened the doors to their storefront. Minister of Family Services and Housing Gord Macintosh, and City of Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz were in attendance and offered words of congratulations and support. Siloam Mission CEO John Mohan introduced the Director of Building Futures, Stephen Dombowsky, who shared his vision for the program that sees those struggling with poverty and homelessness learn skilled trades that they can, in turn, use to build better lives.
