Winnipeg’s Little Drummer Boy Strikes a Beat for Mitts
Local YouTube star performs at the Bay Downtown collects mittens for city’s homeless
Winnipeg, MB (December 22, 2011) – Winnipeg YouTube sensation Sean Quigley is sharing his gifts to benefit Siloam Mission by holding a 2-hour performance at The Bay Downtown Winnipeg on Friday, December 23, 2011.
The 16-year-old will play songs, chat with fans and sell autographed copies of his first single The Little Drummer Boy from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bay Downtown on 450 Portage .
In addition to donating all the proceeds of his single to Siloam Mission, Quigley is partnering with The Bay to collect mittens for Winnipeg’s homeless.
But not just any kind of mittens.
From Friday, December 23 to Monday, December 26th The Bay Downtown will be selling their trademark Canadian Olympic Red Mittens – as seen worn by Quigley in his viral music video – at two pairs for $15, encouraging people to donate the second pair to Siloam Mission.
The donation of mittens comes at a time of joy and celebration, while many among us are struggling to survive. The Bay will kick off the program by donating 240 mittens to the Siloam Mission.
“The Bay Downtown Winnipeg is happy to provide the vessel for Sean Quigley’s message and his generous spirit, ensuring that hands are warm at Siloam Mission,” says Desiree Blackmore, Store Manager at The Bay. “With every Red Mittens sold, 30% of the proceeds go to Canadian Olympic Athletes. Donating mittens to people in need is a great added bonus for the holidays.”
“We’re just so thankful that Sean and The Bay have decided to use their profile in the community to help us,” says Floyd Perras, executive director at Siloam Mission.
EDITORS, PLEASE NOTE: Media are welcome to attend the event at The Bay Friday, December 23, 2011, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Quigley, Siloam Mission staff and Desiree Blackmore will be available for interview.
