BOEING DONATES $10K TO SILOAM, CELEBRATES 40th ANNIVERSARY
Boeing Winnipeg spends milestone day serving lunch to homeless, presenting $10,000 to employment-training programs

Winnipeg, MB (November 18, 2011) – One of Canada’s largest aerospace composite producers is celebrating their 40th anniversary today by serving lunch at Siloam Mission and making a $10,000 donation to the downtown shelter’s employment-training program.

“Boeing Winnipeg has been a very proud supporter of Siloam Mission for the past four years. We are especially proud today to be here to celebrate our 40th birthday in Winnipeg with one of our community partners,” says Kevin Bartelson, general manager.

“Boeing supports projects and initiatives in the area of health and human services that promote the economic well-being and health of those most vulnerable, which is exactly what Siloam is doing.”

In addition to being a partner in Siloam’s Sponsor The Meal program, the Winnipeg-based company has been a big supporter of Siloam’s employment-training programs since 2007, helping people find their footing in society and re-enter the workforce.

Employees from different divisions at Boeing Winnipeg also volunteer regularly at Siloam. As well, through the months of November and December, Boeing staff are collecting urgently needed items for guests of Siloam.

“Siloam is 100% community powered, and if it wasn’t for businesses like Boeing that really step up to the plate we couldn’t provide all the life-changing services that we do,” says Floyd Perras, executive director at Siloam.

“Boeing employees have shown so much generosity to us. It’s uplifting and encouraging to see them give of their time, talent and resources to help those less fortunate succeed and move forward in their life.”
