ICUC and Siloam Mission putting the tweet out to make Easter dinner for the homeless a success
WINNIPEG – April 13, 2011- Imagine if you couldn’t feed your family. With thousands of people facing homelessness or domestic poverty in Winnipeg, Siloam Mission is in need of your help this Easter season. With the recent expansion, the downtown shelter will be serving more meals at their annual Easter dinner than ever before.
On April 21, 2011 ICUC Moderation Services will sponsor its second annual Shop4Siloam charity event relying on the power of social media. Posted outside of the Real Canadian Superstore, located at 80 Bison Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people can come and drop off groceries or cash donations to help fellow Winnipegger’s in need.
The event will be promoted and live-tweeted by @ICUC and @SiloamMission using the hashtag #Shop4Siloam.
“We are so grateful for local, innovative companies like ICUC who can really take on the promotion of important causes such as this one, and help spread our message through years of experience in the social media space,” said Mike Duerksen, Communications Coordinator at Siloam Mission.
This year ICUC Moderation Services and Siloam Mission will also be promoting the use of online donations through a secure Paypal server – for those who wish to donate but can’t make it out to the event. Simply log on to www.icucmoderation.com or www.siloam.ca/get-involved/donate/ and follow the links.
ICUC Moderation Services CEO, Keith Bilous states “We feel very thankful to be involved with such a great program helping Winnipegger’s. We are a Canadian company, rooted in this city and we are passionate about promoting the life-changing work that Siloam Mission does every day”.
Last year, ICUC Moderation Services’ Shop4Siloam event raised over $1600 in food and $700 in cash with a mere 2-days of social media promotion. This year the company hopes to inspire Winnipegger’s to increase their efforts and blow that record out of the water.
