SILOAM MISSION CELEBRATES 24TH ANNIVERSARY WITH INNER-CITY BLOCK PARTY

Winnipeg, August 24, 2011 – Siloam Mission is celebrating its 24th Birthday today by throwing a block party for the inner-city community.
The birthday bash includes games for guests of Siloam Mission, live music by local singer-songwriter Harmony Parent and pork on a bun provided by Manitoba Pork Council.

WHY: The downtown shelter has come a long way since its humble beginnings on Main Street in 1987, having grown from a soup kitchen to a 24/7 homeless service provider that offers meals, clothing, overnight shelter, art programming, transitional services, recovery meetings, a full-fledged health centre that includes free dental and eye care, employment training programs and supportive housing. The block party is to celebrate 24 years of growth and serving Winnipeg’s inner city.
