Niverville Mayor to Honour Former Autobody Owner

Niverville, MB, July 11, 2008 — Niverville Mayor Greg Fehr and Siloam Mission CEO John Mohan will make a special presentation to fellow citizen and cyclist David Dyck at an appreciation luncheon in Hespeler Park Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 3:30pm.

John Mohan recently celebrated his 50th birthday with “My Mid-Life Crisis Bikeathon for the Homeless.” But he didn’t do it alone. By his side was cycling partner Dave Dyck, long time Niverville Autobody owner from Niverville, MB.

Both men endured a 10-day cycling trek from Calgary to Winnipeg traveling approximately 150 kilometers a day. The 1,300-km trip raised awareness about homelessness and raised $84,000 in funding that will go towards Siloam Mission’s emergency shelter, food services program, health centre, and employment training program. These programs and services work hand in hand helping Winnipeg’s poor and homeless transition into healthier and more self-sufficient lifestyles.

The honorary luncheon hosted by Siloam Mission was held from 2:00-5:00pm.
