When the cold is unbearable, a warm place can mean everything.

Winter is the hardest time for people experiencing homelessness. Without a place to call home, many are left without anywhere safe to go, especially when shelters are full.

At Siloam Mission, the Winter Overnight Warming Space offers a warm place to come inside during the coldest months. Since it opened on November 8, more than 4,000 people have already found warmth and safety at Siloam.

About 41% of visitors used the space just once, reminding us that even a single night can make a real difference for someone with nowhere else to go. Others returned multiple times, showing how the Warming Space can provide ongoing support for people navigating longer-term housing challenges.

While the Winter Overnight Warming Space is life-saving, it also shows how important every bit of support can be. At Siloam, we are grateful for donors and volunteers who help in many ways – not only with donations, but also with in-kind gifts such as winter clothing, food, and everyday essentials like hygiene items. These contributions provide community members with a safe place to land, warm up, and rest while they work toward stability and healing.

By coming together as a community, we can make sure no one has to face winter alone. We are deeply thankful to the Provincial Government and The Winnipeg Foundation for their generous support, and to all our kind, caring supporters like you who make it possible for Siloam to offer these vital services.
