Annual Fill The Freightliner event brings in much-needed winter supplies

Each winter, just ahead of the Christmas season, Ken Talbot and his team at Transolutions Truck Centres help bring the community together for one of our largest collection events of the year.

This year was no different, and the 2022 Fill the Freightliner event at Boston Pizza’s Kenaston location was another huge success.

“We at Siloam are truly humbled and grateful for the hard work and love that the Transolutions team puts in to support the community we serve,” says Tessa Blaikie Whitecloud, Siloam Mission’s CEO. “And in addition to the donations of dollars, clothing, food and other much needed items for our neighbours in need, Fill the Freightliner raises a tremendous amount of awareness about the needs of our community as the harsher winter months approach.”

Ken and the Transolutions team have dedicated an incredible amount of their own time and resources to help bring together people and organizations from across the city and the province to support those experiencing poverty and homelessness.

Just this past year the event raised more than $80,000, on top of collecting over 20,000 pounds of food, clothing and other needed items. In total since 2017, Ken and his Transolutions team have raised more than $400,000 in addition to filling their Freightliner trucks with well over 100,000 pounds of essential goods that help keep our community warm, clothed, healthy and fed.

From all of us here at Siloam Mission, we’d like to extend a BIG thank you to Ken and the Transolutions Truck Centres team, all the volunteers who help make Fill the Freightliner happen, as well as everyone who came out to support vulnerable people in our community.
