Siloam Mission hosts Truth & Reconciliation Gathering

WINNIPEG, MB — September 29, 2026 — Siloam Mission is bringing together approximately 300 people today for its annual Truth & Reconciliation Gathering, creating space for ceremony, cultural teachings, reflection and learning.

The gathering brings together Elders, performers, staff, volunteers, people who access Siloam Mission’s services and other guests for a day centered on honouring Indigenous Peoples and Survivors and continuing the work of Truth & Reconciliation.

The day includes an opening ceremony, smudging, drumming and dancing, teachings from Elders, a traditional feast and opportunities for participants to learn and reflect together.

“Siloam Mission’s commitment to Truth & Reconciliation is ongoing,” said Lisa Cefali, Interim CEO of Siloam Mission. “Today is an opportunity for us to listen, learn and reflect together, while honouring Indigenous Peoples, Survivors and the knowledge and teachings that are shared with us. We know this work requires more than a single day, and we are committed to continuing to build respectful relationships and deepen our understanding as an organization.”

This event is part of Siloam Mission’s ongoing commitment to Truth & Reconciliation and to building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and the communities it serves.

“Creating space for ceremony, learning and relationship-building is an important part of how we continue this work at Siloam,” said Tanya Joss, Interim Director of People & Culture at Siloam Mission. “Bringing our staff and the broader Siloam community together gives us an opportunity to pause, listen and learn from Indigenous voices and teachings. We are grateful to everyone who is helping make today a meaningful gathering.”

Throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to engage with cultural teachings and presentations, learn more about Truth & Reconciliation, and come together over a traditional feast.

Siloam Mission recognizes that Truth & Reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility. The organization is committed to continuing to learn, reflect and take meaningful steps toward respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
