“For me, I’m the data administrator here so I’m on the computer all day. The paperwork I do here is putting it from the paper on to the computer.”
On top of that she helps with inventory in Siloam Mission’s clothing room. Taking part in Siloam’s Building Futures program is a world away from where she was five years ago. Fleeing what she describes as an abusive relationship, Sarah chose a life on the streets.
“My experience was just a way out – I’d rather be homeless than somebody’s punching bag.”
This is giving me the chance to get the experience I need
and be prepared to go somewhere else and find employment.
Sarah credits the supports at Siloam Mission for helping her graduate from college and now getting the experience she needs to find full time work. Once she finishes her program at Siloam, she wants to create second chances for others.
“I want to work somewhere where I can help the community and give back. That’s my goal.”
