At Siloam, every housing journey begins with hope. Our Drop In is where the journey of hope and transition begins for hundreds. Here, individuals can access not just warm meals, clothing, and other essential resources, but also a supportive community that offers understanding and compassion, thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, like Dave.
Dave Jeffrey’s connection with Siloam started in 2008 through a volunteer shift with his employer, Vickar Community Chevrolet. His first experience of serving meals in our bustling kitchen, where we serve over 1,500 meals daily, left a profound impact on him. Inspired by the opportunity to make a difference, Dave continued to return, eventually finding his place in the Drop In where he could connect directly and build meaningful relationships with community members.
Siloam is blessed with caring staff and volunteers who ensure that each meal served is a step towards building trust and support for those in need. Dave finds this work immensely rewarding. “What I enjoy the most about the Drop In area is helping the community members, whether it’s just talking to them or helping them during the food service time, working alongside some of the community members and staff during clean-up, or just sitting at a table with some of them afterwards and making them smile,” Dave shared.
Dave’s commitment is evident in every interaction. “I look forward to seeing many of the regulars when I show up to volunteer, and I can’t even get in the door without a few hellos from some of the community members standing outside,” he added.
Dave’s passion for volunteering has inspired his daughter, father, co-workers, and friends to join him at Siloam. He hopes they too will find the same sense of fulfillment.
The commitment of our caring staff and dedicated volunteers not only fosters an inclusive environment but also enables Siloam to offer personalized solutions and resources to those experiencing homelessness. Each volunteer, each interaction, and each smile shared at Siloam contributes to a community where hope is nurtured and where journeys to stable housing begin.
