Siloam Mission honours a long-time volunteer and friend

Many people who have spent time in the kitchen at Siloam Mission over the past decade will
remember our friend William.

William dedicated 12 years of his life to volunteering at Siloam Mission, and it was with great
sadness that we learned of his passing earlier this year.

After relocating to Winnipeg William started donating his time with us, finding purpose and
camaraderie through his work in our kitchen and building lasting relationships with fellow
volunteers and staff. During his time at Siloam, William devoted over 3,000 hours to serving our
community.

This journey of service transformed William’s life, building great empathy and compassion for
those who depend on our programs and support. His commitment also played a significant role
in strengthening his faith.

In 2021, Siloam Mission awarded William the prestigious David Ritchot Golden Ladle Award –
an accolade that honors individuals who demonstrate unwavering dedication, commitment, and
love for the community we serve.

As we remember William, we express our heartfelt appreciation for the lasting impact he has
made in the lives of those around him – those of fellow volunteers, staff, and community
members over the last 12 years. Rest in peace, dear friend.
